Old Girl...

That's it. We're officially old girls, guys. (Just realised that sounds strange!)

Today was the last day of high school, forever. We've had so many memories, both good and bad, but seriously, today was...the end.

You always hear people saying how the end's always so obvious, so emotional, so...climax-y. The truth? It's not, really. I got to school this morning for muck-up day, realised that some of our grade had decided to be extremely disgusting yet uncreative and basically graffiti the entire school with honey, jam, glitter, shaving cream and in the case of the bridge, raw meat.

It was disgusting.

I was so sad, actually - that all those great plans for Muck Up Day that we'd excitedly planned since our first muck up day in year 8 had never come to fruition, the loss of my hope that our grade, as a whole, could leave on a fully positive note. Not to mention that the weather wasn't that great either, actually.

The only good thing was what NERDS 07 - our group whooooo! - did. The days of grade 8 and 9 lunchtime supermario, re-enacted on the sacred grass in the form of awesomely spray-painted-by-Sam question mark "coin boxes" hung off the trees! So amusing seeing people jumping around the sacred grass and bumping into the boxes in the hope of mario coins...aaah, good times, good times. Thank you, teachers, for your support of our muck-up day plan - I'm so glad people did appreciate it!

Enough about muck-up! While the rest of the grade took about 2 sessions to clean up everything, our group was able to run around for most of that time after cleaning up the sacred grass and Cumbooquepa (still can't spell it lol!) It was really nice, chasing after teachers and giving them presents and cards and hugs and taking photos!

We then watched the Senior Video at Morning Tea - props to Kathy for all the work she did on it! It was really quite touching...aaaah. Somewhat ironically, while all the seniors were watching, the rest of the school was being flashed by some guys running across the school oval in G-strings. Great >_>

Had Valedictory rehearsal, then ran down to the Music Department with Katie to get the music staff to write in our memory books :) It just felt so NORMAL, so "I-should-be-here" like. Chatting with the music staff, laughing over their funny antics, making lame music jokes, eyeing Ms Hennessey's mangoes...

Of course, then we ran off to final assembly. Like omg. SANDY I LOVE YOU - she played the Star Wars theme for the recessional of the official party!!! The assembly itself was quite good, we sang Harbor and it was kinda sad and everything...yeah. Then the 11s formed a guard of honour for us and the school standing ovationed us to Bitter Sweet Symphony...AND WE ALL CRIED. XD I swear, every time I looked at another year 11 I cried even more, I told them I hated them for that and they just laughed XD

Then of course, the mango tree gathering. Where we all crowded around, laughed and cried as we gave over our "Senior-ship" to the year 11s...I WILL MISS YOU ALL. SO MUCH. I'm already missing you guys :( During this time I also had some really touching "last conversations" with some special staff...

After this we all rocked up to South Bank with the Churchie guys for a...WE WILL NEVER SEE EACH OTHER ALL TOGETHER AGAIN outing. With lots of chips and coke and ice cream :3 I had to leave pretty early though, to enjoy my "last train trip with Sandy", EVER! It's so sad. Aaaaaah.

Up until now, I had been pretty...sad, but not really realised that it was our last day of school. Our last time in green. Our last hours of being students of Somerville House.

Valedictory changed that. As we walked across the stage and received our leaving references, as we listened to the moving speeches of all those who spoke, as we went through the festival of lights and then conversed for the LAST TIME around the mango tree...

it really hit me. Really, really hit me. That these wonderful teachers, who I love so much, would never teach me again. That I would never be able to sit in a Somerville classroom and learn from them again, that those lockers that I still called "mine" were no longer mine. That the mango tree was no longer "ours". That all these awesome people, all around me, would almost definitely never all be in one place together again. That it was, truly, my last time in the school where I wore a uniform and really belonged.

I swear, you don't think of these things before. You don't think that you'd be reluctant to take off the uniform and the badges and the stockings and the shoes (which I polished today just for Valedictory!) You don't think that you'd actually care that you'll never see all these people again, because you know you'll see your closer friends. You don't think that you'll miss your classes, your teachers (even the ones you don't like), your locker rooms, your morning tea and lunchtime (and library!) areas.

I hope you can tell that I will really miss Somerville and its community. My message to the year 11s: You guys are so wonderful. I love all of you and have every faith that you will be fantabulous Seniors of 08, possibly even better than us! Work hard, but not too hard, try your best, support each other through next year, and GOOD LUCK. Our time is over now, and it's your turn to shine! Hopefully some of you will still remember us, because we definitely will remember you :)

I could go on forever, but I'll do my reflection on the year of 2007 later, when I have more time on my hands haha. Seeing as it's like 2am right now...I think I should sleep.

Stretching ahead of us now is a huuuuge 3 month holiday. After it, most of us don't know where we're going yet. But I won't worry myself with that yet, because THIS COMING WEEK IS SCHOOLIES! Daydream Island + the Whitsundays, HERE I COME! :D

Rembrandt painted 300 paintings. Of these, 1000 are still in existence.

"Bob?" asked Steve, "Jim", Frank replied.
